1 A family tree on Ancestry.com shows Richard to be the son of William Aldridge and Mary Hook. I've not found proof of this yet. I contacted the owner of that tree, but not heard from them. If you know anything about this, please contact me. Aldridge, Richard (I121)

2 After the death of his first wife, sometime after 1835, David brought his family by covered wagon from Buncombe Co., NC, along the Wilderness Trail through Cumberland Gap to Big Wild Dog Creek in Clay (now Jackson) Co., KY. Along with Jim Spivey, whose home was about a half-mile away, he was the first settler on the creek. The location of their homestead is on Highway 30 about 1/2 mile from the Owsley Co. border, near Green Hall.
